KEEP STUDENTS SAFE AND SECURE ONLINE
In today’s digital world,
technology is playing a vital role in raising children and, so in this digital
era, the main concern arises about Internet Safety. With multiple cases
emerging of teachers getting harassed through third-party sources entering the
web classroom or various illegitimate links getting circulated, parents and teachers
need to be more cautious while working.
1.
Discuss with children
Children are assessing tech-savvy gadgets at a very young age
so, parents and teachers should start teaching them about malware, viruses, and
dangerous websites. Start having a conversation with them rather than giving
them lectures.
2.
Know which devices are accessible by children
Children have access to various devices either at home, school,
or friend’s place. So, start supervising where they go online and to whom they
talk.
3. Tell children not to
talk to strangers and not to meet them
Remind
children that not all people they meet online are genuine. Emphasize that they
should not disclose their identity to an unknown person without your consent
and should not physically meet any person.
4.
Create internet time family time
Making browsing a family thing will help to know more about
children’s interest, their mindset, and guide them to websites where they can
find stuff relating to their age.
5.
Watch out for changes in
children’s behavior
Parents and teachers should
keep an eye on the changes in the behavior and personality of children.
6.
Keep a track on children’s
browsing history and set rules
Parents should look at the history tabs of their children and
make rules for screen time. Time should be set beyond which they won’t be
allowed to access the device.
