Stay healthy and Be healthy during festivals

Festivals typically involves endless delicacies and beverages. Festivals are the time to celebrate generosity. Festivals are incomplete without sweets, eating junk foods, drinking sugary drinks, fried snacks etc. During festivals people tend to overeat and fall off the track from fit to fat, leading to weight gain and other health issues. It is important to keep a track on what you eat, what time you eat and how much you eat. To maintain a healthy lifestyle, you need to eat healthily.
Below are some tips that will keep you healthy and fit during festivals:
·         Start your day with Healthy Meal
During festivals, most of the food that we eat tend to be oily, fried, and loaded with calories. Starting your day with a bowl of fruits or vegetables can keep your calories in check. Fruits or vegetables contain fibre, nutrients, minerals and are low in fat. During festivals it is difficult to avoid sweets, spicy and fried foods, therefore, it is advised to go easy on the portions and also to start your day with a healthy meal.
·         Stay Hydrated
During festival season, adults should ensure that each member of the family should stay hydrated and healthy. Drinking water will help flush out the toxins. You can also stay hydrated with coconut water, fresh juices, smoothies, flavoured milk, lime water, and spiced buttermilk that will help maintain optimum fluid that your body needs.
·         Homemade Sweets
If you develop the habit of making sweets at home, you can make them healthier by reducing the amount of sugar or oil content or even further by using low calories sweeteners instead of sugar.
·         Control on Alcohol Consumption
Alcohol is high in calories. As we tend to eat more during festivals, consuming alcohol can be toxic when had more than a limit. It is advised to go easy on alcohol as it is a major dehydrator.
·         Regular Exercise
During festivals, physical activity or regular exercise help you manage your weight, improve your mood, lower your cholesterol and blood pressure. It also keeps you energetic and builds resistance against disease.
